Join us in the Nido Lounge on Tuesday, March 25 for a celebration of three great producers of California Zinfandel. We'll be featuring three family owned producers all based out of California that have been producing some of the finest Zinfandel in the world over 50 years.
We'll be pouring the three wines detailed below in a flight for $49, and we'll have small dishes created specifically to pair with these zinfandel classics available for purchase. Bottles and glasses will also be available for purchase if you find one you love.
2022 Robert Biale "Black Chicken" Zinfandel: Napa’s booming wineries had basically collapsed during Prohibition, decimating the demand for wine grapes. And yet, in 1937, only 4 years after the repeal of Prohibition at the tail end of the Great Depression, Pietro Biale had the grit and the foresight to plant Zinfandel vines among all his other produce on his new ranch on the valley floor. Perfecting the old California classics, Robert Biale Vineyards has become a revered standard of heritage vineyard Zinfandel and Petite Sirah in the Napa Valley.
2019 Ridge "Geyserville": The history of Ridge Vineyards begins in 1885, when Osea Perrone bought 180 acres near the top of Monte Bello Ridge. They produced their first vintage under that name in 1892. This unique cellar, built into the mountainside on three levels, is now Ridge’s production facility. The first zinfandel was made in 1964, from a small nineteenth-century vineyard farther down the ridge.
2021 Turley "Judge Bell" Zinfandel: After two decades as an emergency room physician, Larry Turley developed a passion for restoration, rejuvenation, and yes, resuscitation. Where others might see decay, decrepitude and neglect, Larry looked beyond, finding instead health, history, and potential. This passion has translated directly into his strong affinity towards old vine vineyards across California. Turley now makes 47 separate wines from over 50 different vineyards, some with vines that date back to the late 1800’s.
